Way Cool | Midwest Wild Wind Witness the changing landscape of the American farm from family farm to corporate windmills; while, at least, the lightning stays the same. This image was captured in northern Illinois, close to the farm where I grew up. Wow, has the land and farming ever changed since I was a kid. At one time, the family farm was the mainstay of American agriculture. Now, the family farms are all but gone. The few that remain are huge. The hedge rows are gone and one farm abuts to another. The GPS tells the machinery operator which farm is which. And, livestock production is mostly grown in large operations; not on the farm as it once was. Most farms are now owned by corporations who hire the work done. Still, lightning is lightning. See Way Cool | a 7 Image Story for more of my favorite off beat images.
