Starling in Winter Coat This bird is a Common Starling in its winter coat. A flock of these starlings arrived a day or two ago and frequent the wetlands beyond the backyard. They eat mostly insects and fruit. And, they are messy birds; leaving discarded berries from our crabapple tree, everywhere.
