The Painted Turtle is the most widespread native turtle of North America. It lives in slow-moving fresh waters. Also, fossils show that the painted turtle existed 15 million years ago; it’s a tough little critter. However, it’s too heavy for a lily pad. This guy took off into the water onto a lily pad, but it gave way under the turtles weight.
