Outliers | Horse Country The ranch reminds you of the specious old west with an old style buck and rail wood fence. A buck and rail fence contains of a series of two poles crossed in an “x” pattern called “the buck.” The buck is connected to a series of poles running parallel to the ground and attached along one side called “the rails.” It’s commonly used in places where the ground is too hard to pound fence poles into the ground.
