Nikon 1 V3 for Walkabout Wildlife | Black Squirrel Black Squirrels are not as common as Gray Squirrels around the Midwest. This guy was busy, busy getting ready for the winter ahead. Although Black Squirrels are fairly common in parts of the Midwest, I rarely see them except when hiking in Michigan. The Black Squirrel is subgroup of both the eastern gray squirrel and the fox squirrel. The population of black squirrels is relatively small causing many people to admire them.
