Great Egret Great Egrets like to wade in shallow water to hunt fish, frogs, and other small critters. They will stand still and watch for an unsuspecting fish to pass by. Then, with lightning speed, they strike using their long neck and bill to stab they prey. Out of the water, they stand like a picturesque statue in nice light.
