Why post an image a day? | Nesting Robin Nothing says spring more than a Robin sitting on its nest. The Robin is looking forward to new life just as we are looking forward to spring. It was a standard, simple click on my daily walkabout; nothing special, just meaningful. See Why post an image a day? | a 7 Image Story for the whole story.

Winter Birds by Feeder | American Robin Robins must be hardy birds. Why some of them stick around in the winter when they could fly to a warmer climate is beyond me. They were my mom’s favorite bird; calling them: Little Robin Red Breasts. She always thought spring would soon be upon us, if she saw a Robin in late winter. Now, we see a few of them all winter long. To see the entire story with all seven images, go to Winter Birds by Feeder | a 7 Image Story.

Robin on the Ground Robins spend more time on the ground than most people think. Hey, it’s a bird; it flies. It should be in the air or on a tree branch. Still, here it is; little Robin red breast on the ground in the bushes, looking skyward towards the sun.

Robin Red Breast Yep, they are common. They were also my mom’s favorite bird. She always called them: Little Robin Red Breasts. This Robin was looking through the recent burned underbrush at the arboretum. He seems to had picked up some soot on his “red breast”.

Robin Working This Robin was hard at work finding materials to build or rebuild a nest. It’s a little late to be building a next, but obviously the materials were sorely needed.

The Robins are back! They were not gone for very long this winter. Still, it’s nice to have them back. They were my mom’s favorite bird.

The little Robin red breast was my mom’s favorite bird. She always mentioned the bird when she first saw them in the spring. She always thought spring was upon us if she saw a Robin. It was much colder then in the winter than it tends to be now. Perhaps, they go south if the weather gets too cold. Now, I see them all winter long.

This Robin Hiding in the underbrush did not seem to mind as I walk within 10 feet.
