Newborn Bison

Newborn Bison

Newborn Bison  May Day; in the wild, it’s time for babies to get born.  Today’s daily image comes from Yellowstone National Park at about this time of year, two years ago.  The newborn, still unsure of its ability to walk, was actually 15-20 minutes old when this image was captured.  The national parks in April and May abound with similar stories of new life enjoying the warming spring weather.

Running Bison

Running Bison  While driving down one of Yellowstone’s gravel roads in the Lamar Valley, all of the sudden, a herd of about 50 Bison appear on a small hill right next to the road and start running down the hill at full stride.  They passed maybe 10 yards in front of our stopped vehicle.  Bison really begin to look big when they are running right at you in full stride.

Eye of a Bison

Eye of a Bison  Normally, I am not an eyeball shooter.  Actually, I captured this image almost by accident.  But, after looking at it in post, I really like it.  Yellowstone provides so many opportunities to capture interesting images.  Visiting Yellowstone for a few days on vacation just isn’t enough.
