Nikon D300 Salad | Montana Trains

Nikon D300 Salad | Montana Trains   You can’t travel much through Montana without noticing the trains.  Montana is a long state and trains linking the east and west travel through the mountain valleys carrying many products from coal to aircraft fuselages.  Yes, that’s a 737 fuselage on the car right behind the engine.  It’s not a sight you see everyday.  Although if you live near the mountain valleys in Montana, you might see it more often.  To see more transport images, see Planes Trains & Automobiles | a 7 Image Story.

The Back Story    This image came from a simple click at a highway turnoff along the railroad tracks.    Note: I post an image everyday at hankconrad.com.

Way Cool | Nevada City Train

Way Cool | Nevada City Train

Way Cool | Nevada City Train  This old train is permanently parked outside the Nevada City train station.  The old mining camp of Nevada City started when gold was discovered nearby in 1863. Nevada City was comprised mostly of miners working several nearby mining districts.  In the beginning, the mining district was part of the Idaho Territory.  In fact, until neighboring Virginia City became the Montana territorial capitol in 1865, there was no law except for the miner’s court.  Now, although this old west town has no residents, it’s maintained by folks in Virginia city.  It’s a cool place to visit in Montana.  See Way Cool | a 7 Image Story for more of my favorite off beat images.

Way Cool | a 7 Image Story

Way Cool | Wild SunflowerWay Cool | a 7 Image Story  The obvious question: what do you mean by “way cool.”  Way cool, as a term, has been used for many years now.  To me, it’s a feeling of accomplishment, uniqueness, a bit of luck, and the WOW factor.  These images may not be my best in class  image.  Yet, they all tell a certain story of their own.

The small world of a Wild Sunflower turns into a universe for the Lady Bug.  ●  A train carrying its special cargo, a 737 fuselage, travels through a Montana mountain valley.  ●  An old train sits permanently parked outside an old western town train station at Nevada City, Montana.  ●  As the sun sets on the Port of Los Angeles, a freighter from Japan brings automobiles to the USA.  ●  The sun sets on serene Patagonia Lake after a beautiful, balmy 60ºF+ Arizona winter day.  ●  The changing landscape of the American farm from family farm to corporate windmills; while, at least, the lightning stays the same.  ●  And finally, the hope found in spring’s renewal of life.

Each image will be posted individually this week with a bit more narrative under category Way Cool.

Project 365 Learnings | Commuter Train Going to Work  Capturing images for a 365 project means taking the camera almost everywhere.  Most of us spend time each day going to and from our work.  On this day, it was a trip into the city.  To learn more about what I have learned after completing five Project 365 projects, see Project 365 Learnings | a 7 Image Story.
