Pathway to Spring Springtime bursts with life at Crabtree Nature Center. From tree buds to turtles, spring brings to life all that is natural in northern Illinois.
Pathway to the Color Crabtree nature Center abounds with color this time of year. This pathway leads to a couple mile hike through woods and prairie full of fall color.
Walkabout: Crabtree Nature Center! Occasionally, folks ask me: where are your walkabouts? Actually, most of the time I start from my front door and walk one of several routes close to home. Sometimes, I’ll make a special trip to a park, forest preserve, or hiking path. This image comes from one such place; Crabtree Nature Center near Barrington, IL. Its hiking paths wind along restored great plains prairie grasses, forest, and lakes. The nice afternoon light made a tranquil setting for the Canada Geese.
They’re back. The Great Blue Heron; one of my favorite birds.
This Great Egret seems to be waiting for spring in the branches; although there’s not much snow left.
