Silent Snow If the snow falls in the woods and no one is present to see it, is it still beautiful? Of course, it is! And, it’s still difficult to capture the feeling of the moment.

Backyard Deer Some folks might think that I am cheating because the wildlife is in my backyard. Well maybe, but I just can not stop myself from picking up the camera when I see them outside. And, they’re so inquisitive, to a point.

Eagles @ Starved Rock

Eagles @ Starved Rock The Eagles are beginning to come back to Starved Rock State Park. It’s been cold enough for some of the creeks and small rivers to ice over. That’s when the Eagles gather near the open water of the locks at Starved Rock to fish. On some years, over 100 Bald Eagles find their way to Starved Rock. Last year was too warm so very few showed up. Let’s hope the cold weather continues so more Eagles will follow.

Grey Day Snow It was a day like many days for a northern IL winter; grey skies, freezing mist, light pink sunset. Still, you gotta love the snow.

Snow Melt Warmer temperatures means snow melt. And, tomorrow will bring rain. Still, it’s early in the winter season; more snow will come soon.

Just Before the Snow

Just Before the Snow There’s just a small bit of snow on the ground when this image was captured. This tree, among many very similar, seems defiant to grow so well in the rocks on a steep slope. The next morning, snow covered the entire slope.

The Blue Angels The blue F/A 18 Hornets from any distance mean the Blue Angels. In 2014, the Blue Angels will be back to many air shows around the country.
