Stearman Model 4E in Sunset Light @ AAA Fly-in The Antique Aircraft Association fly-in provides many opportunities to photograph beautifully restored airplanes. The nice light just before sunset makes the gold accent on this Stearman seem even deeper. See the Antique Aircraft Association site for more information on this grass roots fly-in.
Stearman @ AAA Fly-in Today, beautiful weather, 70s & sunny, welcomed the first full day of the AAA Fly-in in Blakesburg IA. This Stearman, painted in US Mail airmail colors, is just one of hundreds of beautifully restored antique aircraft attending the fly-in. I’ll be posting many more photos and videos captured at Antique Field over the next several weeks. See the Antique Aircraft Association site for more information on this grass roots fly-in.

Stearman Model 75 The Stearman (Boeing) Model 75, built in the 1930s and 1940s, was used as a military trainer. These are beautiful and colorful airplanes. Unfortunately, color photography was uncommon before WWII. Even in B&W, they’re still a powerful looking aircraft.
Stearman/Boeing Model 75 PT-17 The legendary Stearman performing at an air show. What could be more American! Bald skies at Oshkosh make for a nice flying day; yet, not so easy for photogs. Still, a little smoke helps.
The Red Baron Stearman, a Stearman E75; the last remaining Stearman of the Red Baron Pizza aerobatic team, was built in 1943. It was just one of many cool planes at the first annual TBM Avenger reunion last weekend in Peru, IL.
