MiG-17 Vapor Trail After the weather improved at the 2nd Annual TBM Avenger Gathering held last Saturday at the Illinois Valley Regional Airport, the MiG-17 gave an exciting performance. Due to the low visibility and ceiling, the jet’s airspeeds were limited to 200 knots. So, vapor trails were not expected. Perhaps, the high humidity helped.

The MiG-17 Fresco has an afterburner which, of course, can make some really cool images on takeoff. After the weather improved at the 2nd Annual TBM Avenger Gathering held last Saturday at the Illinois Valley Regional Airport, the MiG-17 took off with a real dramatic burn.

MiGs The good news; no snow today. The bad news: no air show today either. Yes, it’s getting close to air show and fly-in season in the midwest and I am beginning to get ready. The jets will be back this year including the MiGs. Like most pilots, I’m looking forward to it.
