Crosswind Landings! It’s a nice day to fly. Well, most days are nice days to fly. After the storm passed, the wind stayed for a while. So, we get an extra treat today; crosswind takeoff and landing practice. Spring seems to always bring nice crosswind.
We’re Landing Where?

We’re Landing Where? There we were; flying over Sapphire Lake in a Cessna 170 on skis. I’m in the right seat, copilot’s seat. The pilot says; we are landing right down there. As you can see, there’s no runway in site. Instead, we’re landing on Sapphire Lake, then snow taxiing over to a cabin to get some coffee and meet other bush pilots for some hangar flying.

Cessna 195 & a Barn Now that’s a barn! What a background for a Cessna 195 on floats! Apparently, the family that owns the barn also allows the Oshkosh Seaplane Base to use their land and water for a base for the Air Adventure week.

Storm Coming! The God light is always spectacular to see. What you do not see in this image is the thunderstorm just right (north) of the frame. It eventually got to the airport after we left.

The Flight Ahead Like almost every other day of the year, it was a gorgeous day to go flying. If it were not for the scattered thunderstorms, it would have been near perfect. Before calling ground to get our clearance, just had to make a simple click. The Nikon 1 V1’s small size makes it easier.
