Jake & Elwood Meet Jake and Elwood, well what else would you name the second dog after naming the first, Jake? Yeah, it just had to be Elwood. This outing was their first time pulling a dogsled and they worked it beautifully. Of course, they were in the middle of the pack. The lead dogs are the most experienced and the specially trained to be lead dogs. What many folks don’t know is that the last two dogs are specially trained to be the “wheel dogs.” They help turn the sled . Stay tuned for more Husky images this week.

Huskies Pulling Huskies seem to instinctively know they should pull the sled with other Huskies in their new pack. Although grey and white colors are common in Huskies, they really come in many cooler combinations including pure white.

Husky Dogsled Huskies on the trail pulling a dogsled in northern Illinois. Huskies just love to run and play in the snow. In the winter, they would rather be outside running, playing, working, or just taking a nap in the snow rather than just about anything else. They seem to instinctively know that they should pull a dogsled. Several dogs in this team were newcomers to dog sledding. And, it was a beautiful day with fresh snow falling. The trail had not been groomed like they typically are for races so the dogs had to break a new trail in the snow. This week will be Husky week. Expect more images of huskies on the trail and perhaps a video at the end of the week.

After Dinner Nap? After a great Thanksgiving dinner, Jake just wanted to take a well deserved nap. If those pesky kids would just stop running around me and making so much noise, maybe I could get my eyes closed.

Elwood Runs Elwood ran continuously for about a hour both along the beach and in the water. He kept trying to jump over the waves. He’s less than a year old and today was his first day to play on the beach.
