Reflections on 2018 | First Snow Ice Trees One of the more memorable days in 2018 came late in the year. A snow and ice storm rolled into Illinois as one of the seasons first winter weather events. For the whole story with all images, see Reflections on 2018 | a 7 Image Story.

Reflections on 2018 | Point Betsie Lighthouse Point Betsie Lighthouse, located on the northeast shore of Lake Michigan, sees some pretty dramatic weather and rarely disappoints for a nice image. It really does not matter what time of the year, there’s plenty of good clouds, wind, and waves any time of the year. A little closer look at the Point Betsie Lighthouse reveals nice restoration work done over the last couple of years. The Friends of Point Betsie Lighthouse have restored the lighthouse and now operate it. Tours of the lighthouse ans well as the museum are available. Reflections on 2018 | Hanger Storm A day at the airport is almost always a good day. Flying on that day is even better. A quick look out the office window confirmed it; a storm is coming quickly No flying today; at least until later. For the whole story with all images, see Reflections on 2018 | a 7 Image Story.

Reflections on 2018 | Red-tailed Hawk This angle is an unusual angle to capture a Red-tailed Hawk image! Most of the time, it’s hard to see that red tail. This lucky image was captured through the windshield when I stopped to see why the hawk was sitting along the side of the road. Why a 50mm lens? It was the lens on the camera sitting in right seat. Remember, 50mm with the Nikon 1 V3 2.7 crop factor turns it into a 135mm lens. For the whole story with all images, see Reflections on 2018 | a 7 Image Story.

Reflections on 2018 | Snowy Woodland Stream Winter streams always look so inviting as long as you don’t fall into the stream. This stream lies on one of my walkabout trails. It has a nice foot bridge on the trail to cross without getting your feet wet. The snow flakes were large enough to be visible at 1/125s. For the whole story with all images, see Reflections on 2018 | a 7 Image Story.

Reflections on 2018 | Cardinal Cardinals don’t seem to mind winter. The female and male Cardinals stay fairly close together most of the time. Still, getting a good image of both of them in the same frame is more than a little difficult. Although the female is not as brilliant red as the male, she still stands out against the snow. For the whole story with all images, see Reflections on 2018 | a 7 Image Story.

Reflections on 2018 | a 7 Image Story 2018 was again a year like all years, filled with those events which alter and illuminate our time. (Thank you, Walter.) For me, 2018 was a year filled with very little travel while focusing my clicks closer to home. My camera captured fewer event images and fewer wildlife photographs.
