Landscapes | Yellowstone Still Water Yellowstone NP is a photographer’s paradise. I captured images at this river several years in a row, but only with bald skies. Weather is what it is; you take what you get. For the whole story with all images, see Landscapes | a 7 Image Story.
Landscapes | Bighorn Sheep over the Badlands The Badlands NP is one of the my favorite places to photograph. There’s nothing like rising at o’dark thirty to capture the sunrise. It’s hard to know whether to look for landscapes or wildlife or both. For the whole story with all images, see Landscapes | a 7 Image Story.
Landscapes | Platte River Sunset The Platte River beckons in March. In the distance, the last Sandhill Cranes are landing to roost for the night as the last good light rests in the west. This image was captured near one of the bridges crossing the river just after sunset. For the whole story with all images, see Landscapes | a 7 Image Story.
Landscapes | Oxbow Bend Snake River Shoreline The Grand Tetons always appear magnificent no matter what the camera angle. When focusing on a great image while sitting along the bank of the Snake River, remember to look behind you. You may find another great image or a very big critter. For the whole story with all images, see Landscapes | a 7 Image Story.
Landscapes | Oxbow Bend Vista Some folks claim Oxbow Bend to be the most photographed location in North America. It seems to be beautiful year around. On this particular day, this image appeared in the late morning at the edge of the nice light. For the whole story with all images, see Landscapes | a 7 Image Story.
Landscapes | Yellowstone Elk against Forest Is this image a landscape or wildlife? To me, it’s more landscape accented with wildlife. In the fall Yellowstone becomes a magical wilderness with fall color and the distinctive sound of an Elk bugling. All the wildlife are in their best condition; ready for the coming winter. And, the fall’s brown grasses provide contrast to the new forest growing through an old burned forest. For the whole story with all images, see Landscapes | a 7 Image Story.
Landscapes | a 7 Image Story Trying to pick just 7 images from my landscape image database proved to take longer than intended. These images are certainly representative of the types of landscapes that tend to get in front of my camera. Many folks like to capture landscape images close to home. My favorite landscape images tend to be far away with vistas very different from the Midwest. The American West tends to get more attention than the east. See more landscapes in my Landscape Portfolio.
Each image will be posted individually this week with a bit more narrative under category Landscapes.
