Update: A friend says it’s a Purplestem angelica; indigenous to eastern North America. It grows in moist woodlands and riverbanks and lives for several years, but only blooms once in that time. Today’s Catch | Lone Tree in the Forest How do you find a lone tree in a forrest? Very carefully! This tree greets me as I hike through a forested area on my daily walkabout. It stands out with it green branches against the darker forest background. In late afternoon, the sun pierces the forrest canopy to shine light for a few minutes.
