Backyard Coyote | a 7 Image Story Wow! What a nice life; a backyard coyote. Well, it’s not really in the backyard; more like the back, backyard better known as wetlands and forest. The coyote is a wild animal whether roaming in the wetlands or walking the neighborhood. It must be on the lookout for its predators; around here, that’s mostly people. And, of course, it’s always looking for its next meal; locally that’s rabbit, raccoon, fox, and voles; lots of voles.
This coyote’s images were captured while it was hunting around the wetlands. Around here, coyotes are at the top of the wild food chain with their only real predator being humans. They roam through the woodlands and prairies freely but still maintain a constant vigil. Like this coyote, they sometimes will just stop and look, even when humans are present, as long as the humans keeps an appropriate distance. It looks like they are stopping to pose for a photo. Sometimes, this coyote was on the lookout for predators and prey. While traveling in the open, coyotes seem to check their six o’clock position (behind them) frequently as they look for predators and prey. Occasionally, this coyote would take a break from being on alert for a quick yawn and some personal grooming time. Then what, no rest for a weary coyote! A coyote’s life is demanding each and every day; wildlife!
Each image will be posted individually this week with a bit more narrative under category Backyard Coyote.
